The Planet Swim Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by two former World class swimmers, now currently coaching and working to improve swimming in any way they can. One of their dreams is to give back to the community for everything the sport of swimming has done for both of them and their families. The co-founders are: Sergio Lopez Miro and Gustavo Calado.

Planet Swim Foundation aims to promote the sport of swimming through education and safety by preventing drowning in communities with limited physical and financial access to both pools and water safety instruction.

In the summer of 2010, the Metro Kids Konnection Foundation sent 27 of their children for an 8 week swim lesson program. Since the project proved to be a success, Planet Swim Foundation has decided to take the small summer project into a year-round drowning prevention program.

We set a goal of teaching 500 underprivileged children how to swim every year and we partnered up with a few different non-profit organizations that already existed in the Jacksonville area to provide this service for the children they help. So far the Planet Swim Foundation has provided:

  • Over $25,000.00 in Grants to teach underprivileged children how to be water safe to swim schools in the Jacksonville area.

  • Swim lessons to 157 underprivileged kids for 8 weeks with 2 lessons a week.

  • Close to 5,000 Free Lessons given since 2011.

  • $24,382.50 Total cost of the Free Lessons given since 2011. ( A market value of over $50,000.00)
